The mobile phone industry is in the process of undergoing a significant transformation, shifting from incremental updates to embracing extreme component density. Initial supply chain rumors, regulatory documents, and official OPPO statements about the upcoming Find X10 series suggest that the company is preparing to unveil a flagship phone with substantial battery power and multiple 200-megapixel sensors. OPPO seems to be targeting this release at power-users, field engineers, and videographers who expect their mobile devices to be able to sustain intensive productivity applications and workstation-level performance.
MediaTek’s latest Dimensity chips appear to power the Find X10, with select components fabricated on a forward-looking 3-nanometer process. Early benchmarks hint that an octa-core CPU design with two Cortex-X/C1 chips reaching over 4.2 GHz will power this device. However, unlike the Dimensity 9000 and Dimensity 9200+ chips, which exhibit considerable down-clocking under heavy multi-tasking, the Find X10 will utilize an extensive vapor cavity for thermoregulation. This feature, in addition to 16GB LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage, will mitigate freezing during intensive applications or when the phone is used as a productivity tool. The device will be able to keep background applications, sshjail sessions, and virtual machines active without the OS initiating a thermal throttle.
The find X10’s display is engineered to complement the processor’s capabilities. Measuring 6.59 inches, the LTPO AMOLED flat panel uses an unusual 1272 × 2772 resolution to achieve a pixel density of approximately 462 ppi. Leaked documents and specifications suggest that this flagship’s display will have a 144- Hz refresh rate and 3840-Hz PWM dimming to prevent eye strain. With peak brightness of up to 3600 nits, the phone’s content will be easily discernible even under the harshest midday sunlight without permanently damaging the display. A layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will protect the phone’s surface, and special LIPO technology will reduce the phone’s bezels. The increased 144-Hz refresh rate requires extra power, and OPPO will have to implement additional battery optimizations to ensure that the document editing and other productivity-focused applications do not consume excessive power when the screen is off.
An unusual battery design leaks out, suggesting that OPPO is preparing to unveil a device with significantly increased battery power density. The 8000 mAh silicon-carbon anode battery has been integrated into the 8.4-mm thin phone (varies depending on certain markets). As a result, the 216-grain smartphone will become considerably heavy. The included battery will power the phone through a two-day work week, with heavy 5G usage, video streaming, and concurrent hotspot usage. An 80-Watt super flash charge will be necessary to reach a 100 percent battery, taking approximately an hour to complete. The phone will also support 50-Watt wireless charging and 50-Watt reverse wireless charging to ensure that other devices are not left without power.
The phone’s optical configuration has been prioritized, with rumors pointing to a significant increase in the maximum sensor resolution. The Find X10’s regular and Pro models will include either two or three 200-megapixel sensors, compared to the typical 1 or 2 high-end sensors in flagship smartphones. The primary sensor in the regular Find X10 will be a 200-megapixel sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, optical stabilization, and a size of 1/1.4. This sensor will be supplemented by a periscope 200-megapixel sensor with a significant magnification factor and a Hasselblad Color Calibration.
The leaked firmware for the phone’s camera applications suggests that the phone’s photography and videography features will be prioritized. Contrary to the industry’s norm, the Find X10 will not utilize extensive digital processing during its photography features. Instead, the phone will rely on its high-resolution sensors to capture images with minimal sharpening. Video recording will utilize an in-camera log profile to produce uncompromised video recordings and will be supported by Hasselblad’s film conversion and teleconverter options.
The phone will include cutting-edge connectivity features, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 7.1, an under-display fingerprint reader, and a 5G modem. Notably, unlike conventional capacitive proximity sensors, the phone will include an ultra-wideband radio that will enable it to maintain a stable connection in challenging conditions. For instance, it can be utilized to establish a stable connection even at great depths or inside concrete structures. It also includes an IP68/IP69 rating to withstand water, dust, and high-pressure fluids.
On a software level, Android 17 will power the device, with a proprietary ColorOS 17 on top. The phone will receive extensive updates, including regular Android OS upgrades and yearly Color OS upgrades. Notably, the phone will include advanced enterprise features, including an ultra-secure trusted execution environment, which will be available in early 2023.
