Honor is going to show its smartphone line at the new Magic9 series and the company has now shared more details about the phones before they come out.

After a hint week about the look of the Honor Magic9 Pro Max the company has said that the new group will have 3 models: Magic9, Magic9 Pro Max and a new one called Magic9 Super Edition.

With the third model confirmed Honor also shared the look, color choices and the RAM and storage options for all the phones. The company also said that the Magic9 series will have a big 11,000mAh battery but has not said which model it will be on.

This new information helps us understand better what Honor is planning for its main phones. All three smartphones seem to use the design but there are some big differences between them especially in their cameras, memory setups and maybe their battery sizes.

The Magic9 series is already available to order in China. The official introduction is planned for September 28.

Honor Magic9 Pro Max has three color options

The top model in the group the Magic9 Pro Max will be in three colors.

People can choose between Black, Silver and Olive Green. These choices give the Pro Max a high-end color style, with Black and Silver being more quiet options while Olive Green offers something a bit different.

Honor also said that the Magic9 Pro Max will be available with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

This combination makes the phone a high-end device. A 1TB storage option is especially helpful for people who keep a lot of photos, videos, games and other files on their phones.

The 16GB of RAM should also give the Pro Max space for multitasking and hard apps. Although the exact setups and prices for all storage options are not fully clear the top 16GB/1TB setup suggests that Honor wants to make the Pro Max a premium phone.

The company already showed the phones look giving us a look at the style Honor is using for its new main phone.

Standard Magic9 has four colors

The basic Honor Magic9 will have a colorful selection than the Pro Max.

It will be available in Black, Silver, Olive Green and Popcorn Yellow. The Popcorn Yellow option gives the model a more fun choice that is not on the

Pro Max.

The other three colors are the same as on the Pro Max helping to keep a look across the Magic9 family.

In terms of memory and storage the standard Magic9 will be well equipped. Honor says the phone will have up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage matching the highest setup of the more expensive Pro Max.

That means people who choose the Magic9 don't have to give up storage just because they are getting the lower model.

Course the highest RAM and storage are not the only things that make the phones different. Honor is also expected to make the models different through their cameras and other features.

Same camera design across the group

One of the things you notice about the Magic9 series is the camera design.

The standard Magic9 will have a camera setup that looks similar to the one on the Magic9 Pro max. However the camera circles on the model seem a bit smaller.

This gives a connection between the two phones while still making each one look different.

Camera design is becoming more and more important for smartphones for high-end phones. Of hiding the cameras manufacturers are using big camera modules as a main part of the phones look.

Honor is following this trend with the Magic9 series.

Even though the camera setup looks similar between the Magic9 and Magic9 Pro Max that doesn't mean both phones will have the camera hardware. The Pro Max is expected to be the model in the group so there could be differences in sensors, lenses or how the pictures are processed.

For now Honor has shared one detail about the standard Magic9: it will have the ARRI camera collaboration.

ARRI collaboration comes to the Magic9

The standard Magic9 will have the ARRI name on its camera showing that Honor is focusing on photography and working with professionals.

ARRI is known for its work in movies and film equipment making this partnership interesting for camera work.

The ARRI name suggests that Honor wants to highlight the camera features of the Magic9 series and make the phones more than normal phone cameras.

The name alone doesn't tell us how much the partnership will help in real life. The real test will come when the phones are used for taking pictures and videos.

Things like color accuracy range of light skin tones, low-light performance, video quality, stabilization and how the cameras work together will decide if the partnership makes a difference.

Still the partnership gives the Magic9 group an angle before it comes out.

Magic9 Super Edition joins the group

One of the surprises in Honors latest announcement is the confirmation of the Magic9 Super Edition.

The Super Edition seems to have a place in the group. Of just being a better version of the Pro Max it appears to use a lot of the same design as the standard Magic9.

The Magic9 Super Edition will be in the four colors as the standard Magic9: Black, Silver, Olive Green and Popcorn Yellow.

From the design details we have the Super Edition looks like it uses the overall style as the basic model. However there is one difference in the camera area.

Unlike the Magic9 the Super Edition does not have ARRI branding on its camera.

That makes the Super Editions position a bit strange. Honor seems to be giving focuses to the three phones instead of just making them in a simple order based on price.

The Super Edition will also have up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

One area where it is behind the Magic9 and Pro Max is the 1TB storage option.

The mystery of the 11,000mAh battery

The biggest hardware secret far might not be about the cameras or memory.

Honor has said that the Magic9 series will have a big 11,000mAh battery.

The company has not yet said which model will get this battery making it unclear how the three phones will be different.

An 11,000mAh battery would be very large for a high-end phone. Battery sizes have been increasing in the industry. 11,000Mah would still make the phone much bigger than what is normal for regular high-end devices.

Such a big battery could offer endurance especially for people who play games watch videos use maps take photos or work on their phones a lot.

Course battery size is only part of the story. Actual endurance depends on the processor the screen, the software, the network and the power management features.

Still an 11,000mAh battery would give the Magic9 series an interesting feature.

Magic9 Super Edition could be the 11,000mAh model

Honor hasn't said which phone will get the 11,000mAh battery but a recent leak could give an answer.

According to the leak the Magic9 Super Edition is expected to get the 11,000mAh battery.

If this is true it would give the Super Edition a special place in the Magic9 group.

Of being another high-end version the Super Edition could focus a lot on battery life and long use. That would make it very attractive for people who care more about battery life than having the highest storage or the best camera system.

It would also explain why the Super Edition has a maximum of 512GB storage while the standard Magic9 and Pro Max can go up to 1TB.

At this time the 11,000mAh battery is still not. Honor has not given more details yet.

A three-phone high-end strategy

With three models confirmed Honor seems to be taking an approach to its high-end group this year.

The Magic9 Pro Max is at the top offering the features and, up to 16GB of RAM with 1TB of storage.

The Magic9 is the model but still has a strong maximum setup of 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. It also seems to benefit from the ARRI camera partnership.

The Magic9 Super Edition on the hand seems to have a different way of doing things. It has most of the look and color choices as the regular Magic9. It does not have the ARRI name on it. It can go up to 512GB of storage. However if the latest leak is correct it might make up for that with a 11,000mAh battery.

This means the three models might be good for different kinds of customers.

People who want the overall experience might choose the Pro Max. Those who want a of-the-line phone with great camera features and lots of storage might go for the regular Magic9.. People who care more about how long the battery lasts than anything else might really like the Super Edition.
