Galaxy S27 Ultra Leaks: Chip, Camera, Battery & Release Date (2027)

Samsung’s gearing up to launch the Galaxy S27 Ultra in early 2027—probably in January or February—and from what’s leaked so far, it sounds like it’s going to pack some pretty major upgrades.

Let’s talk about that chip first. The S27 Ultra should run on either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or Samsung’s own Exynos 2700, both built using a cutting-edge 2nm process. That means way better power efficiency and faster performance—so whether you’re taking photos, gaming, or multitasking, this thing should fly. There’s talk of 12GB or even 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM inside, paired with super-fast UFS 5.0 or 4.1 storage. It’ll ship with One UI 9.5 running on Android 17, and AI features will be more tightly woven into the system than ever.

The camera hardware’s getting a shake-up, too. Instead of the old quad-camera layout, Samsung’s switching to a triple-lens setup. Rumors say they’re dropping the 3x telephoto lens, but keeping the solid 5x periscope. The main camera will probably use a custom 200MP ISOCELL HP6 or HPC sensor, so detail should be off the charts. Looks-wise, the camera module is supposed to go from “floating” lenses to a horizontal bar across the back. On top of that, Samsung’s working on better low-light processing—photos at night should come out cleaner and more lifelike.

Other upgrades? The battery might jump up to 5,700mAh, but Samsung will still keep the phone light, around 218 grams, and just 7.9 millimeters thick. Wired charging speeds will get a boost—up to 65 watts—while wireless charging clocks in at 25W with support for Qi2. The display is getting brighter, too: think 3,000 nits with an M16 OLED panel, plus a ‘Privacy Display’ option that narrows viewing angles so nosy people can’t peek at your screen.

All in all, Samsung’s lining up some impressive hardware and software for the S27 Ultra. Of course, things could change before launch. Still, are you excited to see how this new camera design turns out?
